Just a scant 7 miles away from Gulf Coast 5 Star RV Resort, in Freeport, Texas is BASF, the world’s largest chemical company. BASF has a long history in Brazoria County, opening the Freeport plant in 1958 as the firm’s first manufacturing site outside of Europe.
What They Produce
BASF produces 25 different products in 25 plants. They include the raw materials used to make everyday products such as: diapers, fertilizers, food packaging, paints, playing cards, carpets, fishing line, glue sticks, sticky note pads, wood finishes, oven bags and much more.
Staff and Safety
The Freeport site has more than 850 employees and almost 850 contractors making or supporting these products. The site applies an integrated approach to manufacturing, research and management philosophy. Optimized with infrastructure, processes, talent, energy and waste management, this approach creates a very efficient manufacturing operation.
One of the hallmarks of the company is a long history of solid safety performance. The facility earned the Texas Chemical Council’s Award for Distinguished Service and the Sustained Excellence in Caring for Texas Award several times for accomplishments in safety performance, environmental stewardship and community outreach.
Community Involvement
The Freeport BASF facility supports many educational, charitable, youth sports and environmental community organizations and engages in more than 140 community events each year. Employees also volunteered 500 hours of time to help in the community.
